Patriots of the American Revolution

DAR recognizes its members’ ancestors who were patriots. These men and women lived in the original thirteen colonies, and they fought or supported the fight for independence from the British. Their victory in the American Revolution in July 1776 made the United State of America a sovereign nation.
The patriots were united in their pursuit which was expressed in our country’s Declaration of Independence as follows:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
